2015 Undergraduate Nursing Scholarship F.A. Davis winner

Congratulations to our first annual Undergrad Nursing Scholarship Winner, Megan Maddox!

Our winner is Megan Maddox, a BSN student at Belmont University in Nashville, TN. In addition to being a full-time student, she works two jobs – this summer, she is working as a barista at a local coffee shop.

Megan also volunteers at her church, Cross Point Community, mentoring a  group of high school girls.

Here are some of the reasons Megan is going after a nursing degree, and why we thought she was the best candidate for the scholarship!

With my degree, I will not only help people in need but I hope to speak with patients I encounter about challenges they are not only facing physically, but emotionally and financially. In the nursing practice, I want to be able to share my story with everyone and tell them that no matter what the circumstances their story contains you can achieve your dreams as long as you have the ambition to accomplish them.

And some excellent advice Megan had that we think applies to every student working toward their goals:

One quote that I live by daily is, “Ask yourself if what you are doing today is getting you closer to where you want to be tomorrow.” Every day I wake up and apply this quote by pushing myself towards my goal succeeding at Belmont University and holding that Nursing Degree in my hand.

Congratulations Megan, and from all of us here at F.A. Davis, we can’t wait to see you working in your field!
