What does your job entail here at F. A. Davis?
Coaching and working with authors in the creation of manuscript for their projects, whether it’s a book project or a digital project.
What’s your favorite part of your job?
The creative aspect, including watching authors improve as writers and content creators through the course of a project’s development. It’s fun helping them create the exact product they’ve only previously envisioned.
How did you get the job at F. A. Davis? When I interviewed, and soon-to-be-awesome boss, Darlene Pedersen, gave me a chapter to edit. I took it home, took a couple of sick days from the job I was at and worked on it. I guess she liked it, because she hired me not long after I turned that edit in.
What is your favorite part about the company? The family atmosphere and the fact that Rob’s here and the Cravens are here. It’s always been a very welcoming place. You know that they care about everybody who works here.
What made you want to work at F. A. Davis?
I had heard a lot of good things about the company. I had been at a more corporate environment before, where you had relationships with the people you worked with directly, but as soon as you had to deal with anyone a little higher in the chain, nobody even knew your name. You were just a number. Davis’ family atmosphere really attracted me.
Do you have a favorite product?
Fundamentals of Nursing Care, which is now in it’s second edition, by Marti Burton and Linda Ludwig. It’s a book I’m really proud of.
Do you have a motto? Only you can make yourself happy.
What is your favorite book? American Gods by Neil Gaiman
What is your favorite color? Blue
Who would play you in a movie about your life? Sean Astin, who plated Samwise Gamgee in the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
