What does your job entail here at F. A. Davis? A lot of projects and a lot a firefighting. It’s systems related so if you have a problem, you have to come to me to figure out is it something you did, or is it something with the system? Then I have to figure out how to get it fixed. If I need resources from MIS, I have to submit a ticket and tell them what I need them to do and when they come back I have to test it. I also do projects on new stuff. I put in a shipping system from beginning to end, so I went through the whole “this is what we do now” with business process mapping and then took them out to look at what other people were doing. We then built requirements on what we were doing, what we saw other people doing, what we thought would work for us and what we wanted to move towards. Then I did a questionnaire for an RFP, and sent out the RFP, selected vendors, then had them come in and demonstrate their software. The users picked which ones they liked and then we went through two of them again and selected one. So I can do a project from beginning to end too, kind of like a jack of all trades.
What’s your favorite part of your job? I like the analytical part and the problem solving.
How did you get the job at F. A. Davis? There was a job opening, I applied for it and I got the job. It’s not really that exciting.
What is your favorite part about the company? I like that it’s a small to midsize company because it lets you do a lot of different things rather than being pigeon holed into one subject, jack of all trades
What made you want to work at F. A. Davis? I liked the job. The job was what I was looking for and I liked all of the people I interviewed with.
Do you have a favorite product? There is one product, one of those little notebooks and there’s one on first aid that’s a good little refresher, because I’ve had first aid training; I was a brownie leader and a Sunday school teacher. It’s like a quick reminder book so it’s a good one. I’ve personally used it.
